Because I live near The Hague and work in Amsterdam I have to drive a lot ( at least 140 kilometers a day ). On a saturday or sunday when there is not a lot of traffic, I can drive within an hour to my work ( 70 kilometers ). Unfortunatly saturday and sunday are only two days of the week and I have to drive the other days of the week to my work ( just like millions of other people ). Result: Traffic-jams.
Allright, they are an annoyance by themselfes but I can’t stand people who think they are more in a rush then others or think general traffic rules do not apply to them.
For Example: You are driving on a straight road with two lanes. On the end of the road is an intersection, and you have to turn left or right. Most people turn right, and thus most people go to the right lane. Because most people turn right, there arises a traffic-jam on the right lane. So you are in the right lane waiting before you can enter the intersection, and suddenly on the left lane someone drives by and puts its car in front of you.
This happend to me last week. Some posh woman who got her Mercedes SLK500 convertible from her husband who just got a salary raise obviously thought: Well, I am driving a Mercedes convertible, so why should I be in a traffic-jam?
Well, I will not further annoy you with my annoyances about traffic in the Netherlands but I had to get it out of my system.
I bookmarked your blog, thanks for sharing this very interesting article
