Finally! All hosting troubles sorted out

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Today, all my hosting problems should have come to an end.
There are just a few small problems left, for example the Wordpress spam plugin isn’t working anymore. So I have temporarily disabled comments, because I was getting fifty spam comments per day, and was sick of deleting them every day.

To be honest, I was kind of busy the last few months so the hosting problem was a great excuse not to post for a while ;)

I’ll try to keep up from now!

Again some server downtime

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Unfortunately my server died on me last weekend, so I had to spend the weekend on migrating everything to another host….

Everything should be running smoothly now, as I am no longer in charge of the server and have no ways of screwing it up ;-)

Down time

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

I have had a bit of downtime yesterday.

The other night my server crashed with a kernel panic ( still investigating why that happened?) so unfortunately my website had been down a few hours.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Gemalto optical reader.. What’s new?

Friday, June 26th, 2009

According to their press release Gemalto launched a new product which can read your TAN code from the website with a small device.
It works like this:

  1. The user goes to the website of his bank;
  2. The user inserts his card in to the device;
  3. The user enters his PIN, which is then verified by the device;
  4. The user points the device at his computerscreen, and is asked to verify the the transaction / login procedure on the device;
  5. When verified, the device responds with a OTP ( one-time-password );
  6. The user can login or authorise the transaction with his Username and the OTP.

I do not see what is new to me, as a user of online banking. I already have such a device, which does exactly the same thing except for the fact I do not have to point my device at my screen prior to logging in!

It would’t work for me either because my desk is unfortunatly, turned away from the window so sometimes the sun shines directly on my screen. I am pretty sure I won’t be logging in to my bank with that device until sunset…

New Job

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Yes, finally a new post! It took a long time, but as usual I had a lot of things to take care of first :)
This site is now officially co-located, and therefore I had to migrate everything to this new server. Besides this I decided to move from Apache2 to Nginx and thus had to rewrite all configuration files.

As the title of this post gives away, I have switched jobs! I am happy I have found a job in IT-Security and will be working from now on as a (network) penetration tester. Now I have everything on track again, I plan to post more often.
